Privacy
This notice explains how Chronicles of Medical and Clinical Case Reports handles personal information collected through the journal website. It covers authors, reviewers, editorial board applicants and people who write to the editorial office. Patient information inside a manuscript is covered separately by the patient privacy policy.
Information we collect
- Account details: name, email address and the password hash used to sign in.
- Submission details: manuscript files, author names, affiliations, ORCID, correspondence and declarations.
- Messages sent through the contact form or an editorial board application, including any photograph supplied with an application.
- Technical information needed to run the site, such as the pages requested and security checks completed with reCAPTCHA.
Why it is used
Information is used to receive and review manuscripts, correspond with authors and reviewers, publish accepted articles, answer enquiries, consider editorial board applications and protect the site from abuse. It is not sold. It is not used for advertising profiles.
Who can see it
Editorial staff see the material needed for their role. Reviewers receive the manuscript and the information required for confidential peer review, and they are expected not to use it for any other purpose. Published articles show the author names and affiliations the authors approved for publication. Service providers who host the website, store files or send email process data only so the journal can operate.
How long it is kept
Submission files, review records and correspondence are kept for as long as they are needed for the scholarly record, appeals and audit of editorial decisions. Contact messages and unsuccessful board applications are kept only while the office needs them to respond and to keep a record of that decision. You may ask the editorial office to correct account details or to explain what is held about you.
Write to the address shown in the site footer, or use the contact form.
